Rameau's Platée live for the Festival of Music

The Paris Opera celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Festival of Music with one of its most successful productions : Platée, a cruel yet moving farce staged by Laurent Pelly under the baton of Marc Minkowski. Live to cinemas on June 21.

In this opera, composed to mark the marriage of the Dauphin Louis, son of Louis XV, to the notoriously unbecoming Princess Maria Teresa of Spain, Jean‑Philippe Rameau turns irony into the principal weapon of his score.
